Course Summary
Children and young people across Scotland are continuing to struggle with their mental health. As a result, schools are facing growing pressures to improve support for pupils and deal with challenges including persistent absences and poor behaviour.
In response, Holyrood Insight’s popular Mental Health in Schools Conference returns to discuss the next steps for improving mental health in schools across Scotland.
Join us this November for the opportunity to hear from senior practitioners and best practice settings who will share practical insights to help you strengthen support for all in your setting.
With a strong focus on early intervention and prevention in the Scottish Government’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, we will spotlight how to tackle deep-rooted stigma and discrimination around mental health.
You will hear from expert speakers on how to manage difficult conversations around issues including anxiety and self-harm. Learn how to adopt a trauma-informed approach to supporting those at risk, including pupils with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) or those living in poverty.
What does a whole school approach to supporting mental health look like? Hear how you can promote mental wellbeing through teaching, learning and create an inclusive school culture for all, including LGBTQ+ pupils. With a significant increase in staff mental health absences in the last year, understand the importance of promoting staff mental wellbeing in creating change for all.
Effective multi-agency working will be key to improving mental health support for children and young people. Learn from partners, including colleagues from CAMHS and local authorities, on how to effectively improve outcomes for pupils through collaboration.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, network and strengthen your approach to mental health in your setting.
