Tam Baillie:

Tam was previously the Independent Chair of Adult and Child Protection Committees in Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles, from 2018-2023.  Since October 2023, Tam has been the Chair of CPCS and Renfrewshire Child and Adult Protection Committees.

Tam was the Children and Young People’s Commissioner (Scotland) 2009 -2017 and had a duty to promote and safeguard the rights of children and young people in Scotland under the age of 18, or those under 21 if they have ever been in the care of a local authority.

Tam has over 40 years’ experience working with and on behalf of vulnerable children and young people, including child and adult protection, youth homelessness, street-work and throughcare and aftercare and continues to work in a voluntary capacity for various of agencies.

Alex Davidson:

Alex is currently Independent Chair of Orkney Public Protection Committee and has a long involvement in adult support and inspection having worked in Argyll and Bute, Inverclyde, East Ayrshire and Perth and Kinross and is a past Chair of the Scottish Convenors Group.

Previously worked as a consultant in the Joint Improvement Team and Healthcare Improvement Scotland for 10 years, following posts in South Lanarkshire Council as Head of Adult Services, and in Lanarkshire and Easterhouse as a Social Work Manager.

Alex has held roles a Chair of the Scottish Muscle Network, PAMIS, and Future Pathways Scotland’s Survivor Support Fund) and a board member at Key and VOX.

He currently chairs the Five Nations Conference Series of learning events on safeguarding with colleagues in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England, and Scotland.’
